How to choose a pH meter for water
pH meter for water is indispensable in checking of environmental quality of water and do research about it. And there are something need to know about it.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Measurement range
pH range is from 0 to 14 with 7 being neutral, pH of less than 7 indicate acidity, greater than 7 indicates a base.
Display of pH meter are digital.
Accuracy
Accuracy of meters is generally from ±0.1 pH to ±0.001 pH. For instance, a pH meter with an accuracy of ±0.01 is a better choice than with an accuracy of ±0.1. This depend on your actual applications and needs.
Stability
The stability strongly dependent on the temperature and cleanliness of pH electrode at measuring time.
Electrode/Sensor
I tell you about meter’s parameters. In addition, I will introduce some kind of pH electrodes:
pH electrode made of glass material or plastic by manufacturer.
There are many different types of pH electrode such as:
- Combination pH sensors (with integrated temperature sensor)
- Laboratory pH sensors,
- Process pH sensors,
- And differential pH sensors.
Calibration
The best pH meter for water which should do calibration every day to ensure the right results. Types of pH standard buffers are: (pH 1.68, 4.01, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01).
pH meter is calibrated by 2 point, 3-point or 5-point to your demand.
Some basic steps of calibration for pH meter:
Firstly calibrate it in pH of 7.01 standard buffer.
After that you can introduce at the pH 4.01 standard buffer (you can also use pH 10.01 buffer or other standard buffers).
Configuration of pH meter
A basic set of meter include: Main meter body, pH electrode & standard pH calibration solutions like as 4.01; 7.01 and 10.01.
Power source of pH meter is by electric or by battery.
Application of pH meter for water
pH meter is used in many fields from laboratory experimentation to general water quality.
For example of water sources like as inland surface water, ground water, streams, rivers, and lakes, and seas…
How to choose types of pH meter for water
